"fragmented peace"
I am so late in beginning this set of letters due to not being able to make up my mind what was important to me as in making a "peace"statement. In the mail months ago I received my usual CBM letter asking for donations for African women who are mutilated in the name of their culture. I have spent the last couple of months trying to come up with something more in the line of peace within one self, as I believe if everyone found peace within, we would all get on with each other no matter what creed or culture.....so I have finally started with the base letters which were sooooo hard to photograph due to the fibres being so free yet fragile. Strong yet weak. Lines blurred just holding together. Peace in our world so fragmented....

Eithna....at last!
I said in my introduction a few weeks back "Peace comes dropping slow". I want to depict an inner/personal peace, those still gentle times when all is right with the world. I quoted Yeats poem where he was seeking peace in Inishfree, close to nature and the landscape. I also feel peace is a fragile quiet thing, difficult to hold onto when stress and chaos seem to bully it out of the way. With those ideas in mind I have at last begun my alphabet. I am using Bamboo 265gsm paper, a small freestyle letter in ink that I have then covered with torn parchment (the baking paper type), the delicate petal is all that remains of last years hydrangea and some nice ragged handmade paper and random strokes of watered down ink.
The dead Hydrangea flower heads are beautiful and fragile, it is a shrub that keeps on giving.

Peace Letters Assembled
The concertina book
Concertina closed and the box which contains the book
The concertina opened out to display all the letters.
This alphabet done and dusted.....now on to the next one!
Peace Letters
The last of the letters for the Peace alphabet. These have been fairly simple as I knew time would be my enemy, but I was fairly happy with the out come.
Peace Letters
Hello everyone,I finally found the time to catch up with posting the Peace letters. I have completed this alphabet and assembled them into a folded book that opens out into a mat so all can be viewed. This folded book is then popped into a box to keep it confined. Hope you enjoy as I have this challenge of peace. Valerie

The alphabet of a letter a week on the theme of peace ... continues. But I must admit that a small idea came to me for the second alphabet. ;) Of course I still have time ...but in fact, I can tweak my idea ... because if I keep it, it will not be a piece of cake ... ;)
En attendant, je reste sur mes couleurs "pacifiques"...
Meanwhile, I've kept my colors "peaceful" ...
And despite the consistency, I still love these colors work well on ... I still say there should be a little something more for mounting ... I'm still looking ...
Bonne journée
Good day

Hello,
A bientôt
Annik
Hello,
A beautiful Easter Sunday, still cold but the sun finally!
In France in the west, we missed a lot this winter!
Here are my four following letters always on the theme of peace with lightness and transparency!
For "J", I used the bubble wrap that is used to wrap valuables.
I always enjoy watching the achievements of each, with as much variety and originality!
